Monkeying Around in the Bronze Age: How a 3,000 Year Old Fresco Changed History

Herd in Town Event (Open to the Public)

Sponsored by Marshall University

Location: Fat Paddy's

Time: 18.00 EST

This event is fun, casual, and open to the general public.

Doc is one of four academics invited to chat with the audience about her most popular work on Bronze Age Aegean monkey frescoes and the things that we can learn from them. From religion to hunting to medicine and trade, monkeys can teach us a lot about life in the prehistoric and ancient world. Her work would not be possible without cooperation and team work: some of the most important parts of her project were contributed by primatologists (people who study live monkeys and apes) and by taxonomic illustrators (the artists who create the anatomical and scientific drawings of humans, plants, and animals). Collaboration and team work are already important to her past projects, but she hopes to chat with some people who might want to hear about or even get involved in current and future archaeological projects here in Huntington. Come on out and grab a drink with Doc!
